For 47 years she has painted for Radha and Krishna. Her work lives in the temples of Nathdwara, Mathura, Vrindavan and Udaipur. Today she is 80, with only a fifth of her eyesight left, and she needs a safe home.

She began painting at 33 after a profound inner calling. Within days, she found herself painting sacred Indian imagery — as if guided by a force she could not explain.

Rozália Hummel is a Hungarian sacred painter, initiated into the centuries-old icon painting tradition of Nathdwara, Rajasthan. Her works are held in Indian temple collections, national institutions, and private collections across three continents.

Charming Krishna — Madhurāṣṭakam

Her most celebrated publication, illustrating the sacred hymn of Śrī Vallabhāchārya in the tradition of Rajasthani miniature painting. Published in Sanskrit, Hindi, and English. Personally presented by Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, President of India, in New Delhi.

A home before winter

Where she lives now

Radhika lives in a temporary municipal flat on the third floor of a concrete block in Nagykanizsa, Hungary. It is hard to heat in winter, and there is no community around her. An elderly woman helps her day to day, but she faces serious hardships of her own. Radhika gave everything she had to the temples and to her students: she has no savings and no real pension.

The home waiting for her

A place is ready for her at the Támasz Elder Care Home in Balatonfűzfő, near Lake Balaton: warm, safe, close to nature, with people around her every day. Her eyes can barely follow a brush anymore, but her mind is full of plans. Above all, she wants to pass on what she knows of sacred art and Vedic philosophy to younger generations.

Her Story

At 33, Rozália begins painting after a deep inner calling while in southern France. Within days, she is painting sacred Indian imagery — the beginning of a lifelong artistic and spiritual path.

Her first visit to New Delhi and Varanasi opens a lifelong connection to the Hindu sacred arts, Sanskrit symbolism, and Vedic philosophy.

Exhibits at one of the oldest and most prestigious art exhibitions in the Western world.

Granted the rare privilege of studying in the atelier of master Ghan-Shyam Sharma in Nathdwara — one of very few Westerners ever admitted into this centuries-old icon painting school.

Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, President of India, personally presents her Charming Krishna book in New Delhi.

Solo exhibition Asian Myths and Dances visited by President Árpád Göncz.

Invited as Consultant Artist by the Indira Gandhi National Centre for the Arts — India's premier cultural institution.

With Swami Veda Bharati's blessing, she founds the Vedic Sacred Art program at SRSG in Rishikesh.

Lifetime retrospective at K Gallery, Budapest. Her eyesight has faded and she can barely paint, but she longs to pass on her knowledge, and she needs a safe home to do it.

In 2004, with Swami Veda Bharati's blessing, Rozália founded the Vedic Sacred Art program at SRSG in Rishikesh. Her courses integrate pranayama, chakra meditation, and Sanskrit calligraphy into the creative process.

Full transparency

The campaign is organized by Ádám Korosi, a friend of Radhika's, with her full knowledge and consent.
The amounts are converted from Hungarian forints at the current exchange rate, with a small margin for exchange-rate changes and fee increases.
Donations go, after platform and payment fees, to a dedicated account in Radhika's own name, and are used only for her care.
Her contract with the home is renewed one year at a time. Prepaid fees are only partly refunded if circumstances change, so paying yearly protects your gift.
If the funds are no longer needed for her care, because circumstances change or when she leaves this world, the remainder will be donated to the Hungarian Brahmana Mission (brahmana.hu).
